Empathy

So I am walking home and I see this bird lying on the ground, wounded and in pain. I feel bad for the poor bird since it is in pain and has severely damaged its wing. I now have 3 choices:

1. I ignore the bird and go on my merry way, forgetting all about it.
2. I take the bird home with me and nurse it to health, knowing that it will never fly again.
3. I put the bird out of its misery

As humans, is it okay to ignore a creature in peril simply because you don't know what to do? Or because you don't care? And would it be different if it was a hurt person instead of a bird? And what if I picked option number 2? Of course helping a fellow animal in peril would be the obvious choice for me, there is a con here! Though it will be relieved of its pain, it will never be able to fly again and thus I would deprive it of its natural trait. Birds can fly, and that's what they do if they need to survive, but here is the tricky question: Will the bird be unhappy? Are other animals even capable of thinking and feeling like we do? Would it just get used to not having that ability and then live the rest of its life like this, as happy and chippy as ever? Then there also is option 3: putting the bird out of its misery - and I do believe the ethics and that one speaks for themselves.

Anywho, this is a scenario I've yet to encounter. I merely read about it in Zetman and History's strongest Disciple Kenichi and happened to gain a cerain couriosity towards the topic. What would you do in this situation?

Awesomely Special with a hint of change

Life is interesting, isn't it?
You can prance around feeling down because of one thing, and then get uplifted because something great happens - or vice versa!
You may think that something is, that really isn't - or that something that isn't really is!
More than that, something that's been in your life for a long time, may suddenly change - and so can you!

Now disregarding that topic (not entirely) I believe
Geoffrey F. Fisher
once said: "If you aim for perfection, you'll discover it's a moving target" - that it is, that it is.

Nonetheless, what is perfection? Is it something that seem flawless to everyone? If so then there can't be perfection!

My definition of something perfect is something 'special'
something that makes me happy, in a strange unexplainable way.

I know someone special, I believe.
Someone I am always excited to see - and I can't wait 'till I see her again.
Someone who is more beautiful than the Sistine Chapel to an architect and more intelligent than Niels Bohr to a nuclear physicist. <--- That may sound lame, but it really isn't
Someone who seems more interesting than an algorithm to a mathematician, sweeter than Mother Theresa to the poor and more cute than a care bear (which we all think are darn cute).

[Using all of these adjectives in one blog-post has been really hard for me, so I hope I get a little credit]

ATM I think sitting here, at home, is a fricken waste of time, which in the past was something I preferred :s
I liked sitting here in my chair, relaxing, sipping coffee or whatever, whilst watching some sit-coms with my good friend "The Hook" <--- Yes, that's what we call him.
Thanks to her, that is completely ruined; Smashed into little pieces! - I still wanna see my friend, but sitting in my chair watching some stupid sit-com when I can go see her? No fricken way!

Now how should I define it? Do you know something that is awesome? Go with that x10 and then you've got the square root of her. Am I blabbering a bit? Mayhaps... Nonetheless, keep reading or I'll get mad.

for simpler minds: She is great and I want to emphasize that fact!

Now can that be considered being 'special?' - to me: Yes, most definitely!
Can it be considered perfection? A moving target? Maybe to some, maybe not to others - make your own definition, make your own calls! To me? Well, it's damn right close - at least I can with safety say that: She's moving, alright!

I invite and encourage everyone to make and eventually change definitions of everything they gaze upon, ponder over or whatever pops into their head :) Peace out :D

The rhyming problem with teleportation

Just for kicks, my post will be written as a song / poem - I'll try to make everything rhyme.

Everyone here has seen it,
On TV, in comics and film!
Everyone here can believe it,
But they don't realize the thing...

There's a problem with teleportation!
A futuristic thing, we all think indeed!
A thing we all think amazing!
On that we are all agreed!

Bu-----t

Think about the actual process, in this whole concept
Every single particle in you, you must not forget -
Has to be broken down!
Reduced to nothing - I must frown!
For after you've been broken down to nothing, you must be recreated
And it would be painful unless sedated!
Say it was possible, the gift we've been granted
What could the teleportation then be branded?!

What? I Bit!
Cloning? That's right!

Say you could do all this in a heartbeat,
I must say without being discreet,
When you arrive on the other side
merely a clone you will be, that's right!

Now tell me folks is it still al that great?
Would you still mind opening the gate?
Prancing inside all lovey-dovey,
and become a man with the very same body?

And my song may very well such a lot,
but I'm afraid this is all I've got!
To think that all of this, inside me was stored...
... What can I say? I was bored!

Discussions are good!!

People, people, people!
As time progresses and I get older, I develop certain opinions and obtain certain knowledge. True, I am mostly passive about everything, but there are some things that make me tick, including Religion, History, Ethics, Moral, Etymology, Sociology, Psychology and the list goes on... Or actually no, it doesn't.

At some point I came to enjoy discussing these topics on a philosophical level, but I reckon that is not in everybody's best interest. I call the phenomenon of talking a topic over: "Discussing".

Now what does "Discussing" mean?
According to www.thefreedictionary.com it means one of the following:

1. To speak with another or others about; talk over.
2. To examine or consider (a subject) in speech or writing.

Now when I say i want to discuss something, I mean level-headed, rational, mature examining of the topic, but it seems that some people are just hell bend on considering that particular word as a very bad one. I consider a discussion something between friends, family, or people in general whom are actually not ignorant idiots.

Am I saying that you are a jerk just because you are not capable of- or do not want to discuss a certain topic with me or anyone else? No, not at all - but then who am I calling idiots? That is so very simple: I am calling the obnoxious people, who are so narrow-minded and set in their ways that they won't even listen to viewpoints and arguments, but merely makes the same statement over and over again, idiots! Those are the one's I am calling idiots.

As soon as a discussion becomes about winning, changing the others opinion to one's own, humiliate the other and so on, then it is no longer a discussion; Then it becomes a "Fight."

Why would anyone want to fight over something trivial?
Anyhow, it seems that a lot of people has gotten the two words mixed up - and a lot of these people funnily enough seems to be the pricks I just can't fucking stand!

But then why do we have discussions, if not for winning? Elementary, my dear Watson; That is merely, in my case at least, to gain greater insight into the topic and come to understand why the world is at it is, and its inhabitants are as they are.

As a little finisher to this topic, I want to share a quote (As good as I remember it) of Socrates. See, Socrates had visited an Oracle, I do not remember which one, and Socrates had this to say about it: "The Oracle called me the wisest Greek of all. Not because I know the most, but because I, of all the Greeks, know that I know nothing."

This song is about me!!

Have you ever heard a song and thought: "This song is about me!"
I bet you have! It doesn't matter what it might be about, but you can relate to it. You understand the artist who wrote it all of a sudden!
You listen to this song over and over, and maybe you present it to others with the motivation of sharing a bit of information about yourself with them, whether you realize it or not.
What you may not realize is that each one of these songs are made in a way so that a lot of people can relate to them - otherwise they wouldn't sell :O

What we might learn from this is that all those feelings, problems and experiences we all go through, has already, or will be gone through by others - There are always those who can also relate to that very song you are listening to right now.
Be that "Close to you" by The Carpenters, "Lonely World" by Limp Bizkit or "Ich bin ein Gummibear" which I am not sure who made :/

Anyway, stop bitchin' - other people knows your song!

Why Pokémon is evil...

I was sitting here the other day, with 2 friends, watching some of the Pokémon movies and we got to talking and well, to put it frankly... Pokémon is the meanest, most crude, violent and twisted children's anime ever!

I began watching Pokémon when I was 8 years old and I, along with the rest of my generation, fell deeply in love with it. Here is how I saw Pokémon back then:
' Pokémon is about a young trainer, whom among with other trainers, catch and befriend Pokémon in order to become the Pokémon master. Pokemon trainers duel each other when they meet in order to train their Pokémon to become stronger and better. Then there is Team Rocket whom are up to no good and tries to steal Pokémon and turn them in to their Boss, Giovanni. Team Rocket are the villains of the Anime. Our main character Ash Ketchum has a rival: Gary Oak - grandson of Prof. Oak, a highly standing Pokémon Professor from Ash's hometown of Pallet. Ash meets Gary several times on his journey and Gary always seems one step ahead.

In the Gameboy game, Ash (Red) on the other hand, is the one whom always beats Gary (Blue) when they meet. And in the end of the Pokémon legaue, Gary is ahead of Ash and challenge his for the title of Pokémon master. Heroically enough: Ash wins.

In the story we are constantly shown that you can do whatever you set your mind too, as long as you are a good person.

----
Aspect number 2:
Pokémon is a universe wherein so-called Pokémon trainers catch and enslave Pokémon which is this universe's alternative to animals. After they enslave these animals, a concept which is of normal ideology in this universe, the trainers assault other trainers and animals in order to pin these creatures against each other, in a battle which could easily lead to death. After a trainer has knocked another trainers Pokémon out cold, he takes half his fortune. It seems that all societies within this universe is build on the sole foundation of slavery. But is it really slavery? I believe that as long as the one's enslaved are as intelligent as any human being, it is indeed slavery.

Team Rocket capture's and steals Pokémon from trainers/Slavers and deliver them to their boss Giovanni, whom then uses them to overthrow the very societies that enslave them - in a way he is a classic personification of "Revolutionary Liberty."

When it comes to Gary, all I can see is a poor, mistreated and ignored boy. In spire of being Prof. Oak's grandson, his witty old grandpa seems to favor his rival Ash over him. Ash (Red) is continually pounding in Gary's (Blue) Pokémon, defeating him time and time again, sucking in the very last bit of respect and attention his grandfather has left for him. As soon as Gary beats the Pokémon and his peer is finally showing him some attention, Ash comes along, whoops his butt and leaves him in the dust.

We are shown that to rise higher, somebody else has to fall.

All in all, it's a world that encourages Enslavement, bigotry, Violence and so on, and quite frankly, I think we had enough of that in Germany during World War II
